McDonald Benefit Advisors is a client driven organization that strives to exceed the needs of our clients.

After years in this industry of doing it someone else’s way, it became clear that a new entrepreneurial and creative approach to Benefits/Retirement Consulting was needed.  One that focused more on service, delivery, and overall results for the end user – our client.  As a result, McDonald Organizational Health was established back in 2010. 

We have since rebranded as McDonald Benefit Advisors.  Our 100+ years of experience, enhanced by very strong relationships with our strategic partners and insurance providers, have helped us drive best in class results, for both clients and prospective clients. We believe many advisors try to baffle their clients with confusing reporting, useless data, and jargon.  

There is simply not enough transparency and clarity in our industry.  We know that our proven delivery methods are helping to improve Benefits/Retirement Plan offerings, enhancing employee appreciation, while also maintaining financial sustainability for our clients.

We pride ourselves on bringing proactive strategies to our clients and an overall responsiveness to any issues or concerns that may arise.  We have worked with companies into the thousands of employees, however given our GHA location, our clients are typically SMBs with 50 to 500 employees.  Our focus remains on Group Benefits, Group Retirement and Executive Insurance.

Mike McDonald, President & Founder

Mike is a strong believer that children are the future.  He is a past board member for Ronald McDonald House Hamilton, SCGHA and SCMHA.  Mike has coached children’s sports such as baseball, soccer, rugby and hockey.   

Currently, Mike is a Council Member for the Halton Chapter of ProAction Cops & Kids.  ProAction brings cops and kids together in skill-building and mentoring programs to create trust, respect and safer communities.

Mike is a graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University and York University with certificate in Pension Law from Osgoode Law School. He has over 28 years of experience working in the insurance industry with both small and large businesses.  

He founded McDonald Organizational Health Inc. in 2010 with the vision of developing benefits and pension programs for businesses. Our 2023 rebrand to McDonald Benefit Advisors builds upon the success of the last 13+ years and positions us for many more years of supporting our growing client base.

Kevin Harrison, Vice President & Partner

Kevin grew up in the Niagara area but now resides in Burlington, ON with his wife and daughter. Kevin, along with his family, belong to Cedar Springs Health and Racquets club where he is an active squash player. Kevin is a proud supporter of some fantastic charitable organizations such as the MS Society of Canada, Ronald McDonald House, Boys and Girls Club, ProAction Cops & Kids and The Canadian Cancer Society.

Kevin has a proven track record in business development and client relations trained to listen first. Kevin is Vice President and Partner at McDonald Benefit Advisors, working alongside his long time friend and colleague, Mike McDonald, and has over 20 years’ experience in the Insurance and benefits industry. McDonald Benefit Advisors offers a variety of services to help organizations become more efficient in providing creative, unique and specific solutions to help better manage their employee benefits, retirement programs and executive insurance plans. This is “what” McDonald Benefit Advisors does however “how” they deliver their mission statement to clients, is what sets them apart in the industry. Kevin has great passion when working with his clients, specializing in working with Business Owners directly. Kevin is a business owner himself, which allows for an honest and empathetic ear, in order to help walk though some of the trials and tribulations of running a business. It is vitally important for Kevin to fully understand his client’s obstacles, goals and needs in all facets of business, which then results in better advice and effective solutions.
